Who We Are

The Central Valley Tenants Union (CVTU) is a solidarity network of tenants in Hampshire County, formed during the Covid-19 crisis. Committed to organizing for housing justice from below, we strategize together to defend access to housing. We are currently working to distribute up-to-date information and support those interested in organizing tenant associations and solidarity networks. We invite any tenants in Hampshire county and beyond to get in touch and join our efforts during this crisis.

*We live in the Kwinitekw (Connecticut River) Valley on unceded Nonotuck land. We acknowledge our neighboring Indigenous nations: the Nipmuc and the Wampanoag to the East, the Mohegan and Pequot to the South, the Mohican to the West, and the Abenaki to the North. We believe that our current predicament in which housing is exploited for the profit of the few at the expense of the many cannot be understood without the context of the original theft of this land from its original inhabitants.
